ABOUT NORTHEASTERN STATE UNIVERSITY

YOUR SUCCESS. OUR MISSION.

Northeastern State University is Oklahoma's fourth-largest public, four-year institution. With a primary campus in Tahlequah—the heart of the Cherokee Nation—and additional campuses in Broken Arrow and Muskogee, NSU serves nearly 9,000 students in northeastern Oklahoma.

Founded in 1846 as the Cherokee National Female Seminary, NSU is historically linked to the Cherokee Nation and Indian Territory, making NSU the oldest institution of higher learning in Oklahoma and one of the oldest west of the Mississippi River.

NSU seeks to continue and enhance the distinction as a university of choice for American Indians. Our student body consistently has the largest number of American Indians of any public university in the United States and represents approximately 30 different nations.

Led by a dedicated faculty, NSU offers students a unique experience. We strive to empower individuals to become socially responsible global citizens by creating and sustaining a culture of learning and discovery.

All programs offered by the University are approved by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education and the Regional University System of Oklahoma.

In addition to our accelerated online nursing degree programs, Northeastern State University offers other programs to meet the needs of the life-long learner. For more information about the additional programs we offer, visit NSU.
