Students will learn the elements of quantitative and qualitative research processes. Evidence-based practice and research critique skills will be further developed.

Students will learn basic principles of cultural competency which are addressed with focus on regional and global populations.

Students will learn about policy decisions and related issues that shape the organization, financing, and implementation of health care services. Ethical, social, and political issues that affect the providing of education, health care, nursing services, communities and society are analyzed.

Students will learn about the most current trends and issues facing professional nursing practice.

Students will demonstrate synthesis of the master's in nursing content in the specialty pathway through a master's project or master's thesis, which is presented and defended. May be repeated if additional time is required to complete a project or thesis.

Students will work with a mentor to develop and practice competencies in their selected nursing option. 120 hours of field work is required.

Students will learn about the advanced practice nursing role and discover the knowledge and skills to effectively manage change, empower others, and influence political processes.

Students will learn about contemporary influences, theories, principles, and functional strategies related to management/administration and organizational systems at the micro, meso, and macrosystem levels.

Students will learn about the personnel and human resource issues in nursing and healthcare settings.

Students will learn about the financial and resource management for the nurse leader. The course provides students the skills and knowledge to perform a variety of functions related to financial and resource management.

Admissions

You're ready to take the first step toward completing your MSN online. To be admitted into the program, you must meet the requirements listed below.

MSN in Administrative Leadership in Nursing Online Admission Requirements

  • Completed application
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from a nationally accredited nursing program (ACEN, NEA or CCNE) and regionally accredited college or university
  • Official transcripts
  • A cumulative GPA of 2.5 on all undergraduate coursework or a 3.0 GPA on nursing coursework
  • Current, unencumbered RN license
  • GRE or MAT scores must be submitted before the end of the first semester with a minimum of 388 composite on GRE or 283 on MAT. Must be less than 5 years old.

Additional Requirements (due no later than end of first course after admission)

  • Documentation of immunizations, including: MMR, TB, Tdap, varicella, hepatitis B and influenza
  • Documentation of current, signed American Heart Association health care provider CPR card or eCard
  • Documentation of current professional liability insurance policy face sheet reflecting minimum coverage of $1,000,000/incident and $3,000,000 aggregate; the nursing program must be listed as a certificate holder
  • Complete a national background check and drug test:
